Christmas Trip, Part 2

After a couple of days at Tammy's house, we trekked up to Louisville, Kentucky, where (to the boys' delight,) there was snow on the ground! And 4 cousins to play with!

The second snow began on Christmas eve. It was the first white Christmas for many of us. Christmas day we got out in it again and had some fun.

The kids did LOTS of sledding/sliding, as Chandler will demonstrate.

Ruby came out to play. I LOVE my sweet little niece!

Chuck hit his target with a snowball - Tammy's rear as she was bent over. The snow actually even went inside her pants. Chuck was thrilled. Such a mean big brother...

Tammy was NOT thrilled.

Chuck and Chandler worked on a snowman.

Chuck built the base, then handed the construction to his brother-in-law Brandon. Then the snowman contracted Elephantitis.

Also, Mitsi has some guineas. Chandler used them from target practice. Thankfully he doesn't have good aim.

Also, Chuck caught this shot of a snowflake falling (if you look realllly close).

I'm going to pause here, otherwise we'll have photo-overload...

If you're our friend on flickr, you can see the whole set here.

Christmas Trip, Part 1

So, as soon we we finished up with Charlie's Holiday party, we got home and loaded up for our road trip to Nashville, Tennessee and Louisville, Kentucky. Long day, that's for sure.

We made the (HUGE) mistake of taking I-35 up through Dallas. By the time we hit Austin it was 5 pm. Not good. It took us about 9 hours to get East of Dallas, which should've taken about 7. We had hoped to make it to Texarkana at least, but we gave up and spent the night. The next morning, though, we made better time and arrived at Chuck's sister's house just in time to celebrate her birthday!

Tammy's party was in full swing with her awesome friends. So glad we didn't miss the delicious ice cream cake!

Tammy is so much fun! I'm not sure I was this happy when I turned 30. ;)

It was much colder there, so the boys loved the fire on the porch. And the Christmas carols that ensued.

And later, while the girls were all gathered in the kitchen talking, The Disney movie "The Little Mermaid" came up, and this is what followed:

See, I told you her friends were awesome. ;) And Tammy, sorry if you're embarrassed that I posted that, but it was seriously so cool.. Love you!

The next morning, Tammy cooked a big wonderful breakfast. Chandler said, "My belly is full. See?!"
My belly is full, see?

Thanks, Tammy and Brandon, for letting us come visit!

Christmas Parties

One thing I've really enjoyed about the boys being in pre-k at church is having all the parties! Once Charlie entered the public school system, with all the extra rules and larger class size, they only have 1 party a year.

For Chance's class, they decorated cookies. Seeing as how the boys LOVES sprinkles, he was all about it.

Chandler, of course, preferred the eating part.

Yep, square on the nose, unlike the other kids.

Chandler gave it a try, too. He didn't have much success.

Then a little story time to round out the day.

So I took the boys home to Chuck, and promptly attended Charlie's "Holiday" party.
There were many stations set up around the room.

11th Anniversary

This year for our anniversary, we played it a little lower key than last year. No big trips, just a couple of days kidless, which was still a treat in itself.

We went down memory lane...literally. We spent our honeymoon in San Antonio, mainly on the Riverwalk, so this time we went down to all the old spots we loved, and even found some new ones. We went through El Mercado and ate at La Margarita's. We enjoyed the busyness of the streets and the various shows around. The weather was absolutely perfect.

Seeing as how we share this love for photography, we also took pictures...

We explored the new section of the Riverwalk, which goes up to the locks. There's a lot less commerce, a lot more art, and lots of places to take photos.

That night we went to Scenic Loop Cafe. We always thought it was too expensive to try, but since it was half a mile from home, we gave it a shot and were surprised at how good and decently priced it was. Chuck enjoyed a band with an acoustic bass. The next day we slept in, then met Nana and Big Daddy to get the boys back (Thank you!!). It was a perfect weekend!

Meeting Santa

This Christmas, we again went to Bass Pro Shops to meet Santa. In addition to being free, it is so fun! There are lots of activities for the kids to do while waiting...

such as various forms of hunting...

I took some pics of the boys while we were waiting in line. Charlie wanted to show off his newly lost tooth.

Of course, Chandler chickened out at the last minute. But this Santa was so great, and took his time with the boys. He persuaded Chandler to come closer with some candy.
