For Charlie's 6th birthday, we played it low key. We had a few of his friends over that he hadn't seen in awhile, and invited the dads to come along for the evening. We hoped the boys would be up to staying the night, but they didn't make the whole way. However, they did make it til 1 am, which was impressive to me! They made model cars, built lego sets, played Wii Sports Resort, and played outside. It seems like no matter how cold and rainy our weather is, it always is warm and sunny on his birthday. Love it!!

Enjoying the new legos.

Earlier that day, I awakened him with a special muffin and candle, but since he was getting up so early for school, it was just me singing, not the whole family (poor guy gets to endure Mama's singing...). Then he got to ride the bus (Hooray! It's a good day if he gets to ride the bus, in his opinion.). Later, Chance, Chandler and I joined his class for cupcakes in his honor. It was also early release day, which was so fun for him to come home early and open his presents.

I loved how he kept his arm around Chance as he introduced him to his friends.

SO excited!

A Star Wars board game. Score.

The Wii Sports Resort - he LOVES sword fighting, although his momma's not so sure about the violence of it... ;)
Then the next day, our family drove down from Austin to visit and celebrate.
Chuck made these stuffed mushrooms that were a big hit.

This cake from Costco was delicious! And we were so glad to have family to share it with!! I still have half of it in the fridge, tempting me...

Nana was on duty, diaper in hand, grandson on lap. This is so her! :)

It was so nice to visit! Chuck and his mom, cousin Meesh and a blurry Chandler.

Playing with Grandma.

Oh Charlie, what an incredible gift you are to us! You have become such a big kid. You are still nurturing, a quiet leader, and you tend to root for the underdog which endears you greatly to us! You dote on your brothers, and may be a little too charming around the girls at school. ;) You are smart, and have made great strides to control your temper. Even your competitive spirit is getting tamed! You're also in a hurry to learn to read and it amazes me how well you're doing at it! You have exceeded my expectations in kindergarten, and have proven to me that you are such a social person that a school setting (versus homeschool) is definitely what you're meant for. You love legos more than anything, and are still all boy. We love you so much!

He is really growing up! What a wonderful, lovely, loving tribute; both the photos and the words. Thank you for sharing, and I hope Charlie realizes as much as you clearly do how lucky he is to have such a great relationship.
Love this.
I can't believe he is 6! You have an amazing little boy and it is so neat to see him grow up. Happy Birthday Charlie!
