6 years of Charlie Thier

275. That's how many photos I fit into this first-ever slideshow of Charlie. Since I've made one for Chance and Chandler, it's becoming a tradition, but we've got to cover 6 years! Next year will be much shorter, only covering this current year... Until then, how do you fit 6 years into 6 minutes? Kinda like this...

For Charlie's 6th birthday, we played it low key. We had a few of his friends over that he hadn't seen in awhile, and invited the dads to come along for the evening. We hoped the boys would be up to staying the night, but they didn't make the whole way. However, they did make it til 1 am, which was impressive to me! They made model cars, built lego sets, played Wii Sports Resort, and played outside. It seems like no matter how cold and rainy our weather is, it always is warm and sunny on his birthday. Love it!!

Charlie's Bday

Earlier that day, I awakened him with a special muffin and candle, but since he was getting up so early for school, it was just me singing, not the whole family (poor guy gets to endure Mama's singing...). Then he got to ride the bus (Hooray! It's a good day if he gets to ride the bus, in his opinion.). Later, Chance, Chandler and I joined his class for cupcakes in his honor. It was also early release day, which was so fun for him to come home early and open his presents.

I loved how he kept his arm around Chance as he introduced him to his friends.

SO excited!

Charlie's Bday
A Star Wars board game. Score.

Charlie's Bday
The Wii Sports Resort - he LOVES sword fighting, although his momma's not so sure about the violence of it... ;)

Then the next day, our family drove down from Austin to visit and celebrate.

Chuck made these stuffed mushrooms that were a big hit.

This cake from Costco was delicious! And we were so glad to have family to share it with!! I still have half of it in the fridge, tempting me...

Nana was on duty, diaper in hand, grandson on lap. This is so her! :)

It was so nice to visit! Chuck and his mom, cousin Meesh and a blurry Chandler.

Charlie's Bday

Oh Charlie, what an incredible gift you are to us! You have become such a big kid. You are still nurturing, a quiet leader, and you tend to root for the underdog which endears you greatly to us! You dote on your brothers, and may be a little too charming around the girls at school. ;) You are smart, and have made great strides to control your temper. Even your competitive spirit is getting tamed! You're also in a hurry to learn to read and it amazes me how well you're doing at it! You have exceeded my expectations in kindergarten, and have proven to me that you are such a social person that a school setting (versus homeschool) is definitely what you're meant for. You love legos more than anything, and are still all boy. We love you so much!

Good Morning, Mess Maker

Chandler is notorious for making messes. There's nothing he delights in more than dumping things out everywhere. But this morning's mess was good enough to record here, I think...

Chandler's usual routine, when he wakes up, is to come straight downstairs and wake us up. But this morning, he instead went straight to the kitchen, and ever so quietly used his newest skill: opening the fridge and freezer. With doors wide open, he got out the "Push Up" popsicles that I'd just told Charlie he could eat after school, opened the whole dozen of them, and proceeded to try to eat them all before they melted.

My morning
(This pic doesn't include the big puddle of purple popsicle in the dining room...)
